A Pre-Inaugural Gala at the Moon Monday night prepared folks to welcome the 44th president, while honoring Doctor Martin Luther King on his day of remembrance.

The Gala's mistress of ceremonies, Jada Collins, says this is the perfect event for such a historic time in America. "It just comes on the heels of celebrating Martin Luther King day, so it's just, I'm looking forward to a lot of having fun first of all, celebration, but you know we have poets, singers, and dancers--so it's going to be a lot of fun." said Collins.

Organizers say the event proceeds will benefit at-risk
youths. Two humanitarian awards were also given out during the Gala to Steve Payne and Sandra Collins for their service to the community. The swearing in ceremony of Barack Obama begins Tuesday at noon and coverage on CBS starts at 9:30 in the morning.
