The Shelter staff says it expected about 230 people Tuesday night--but they only have 110 beds. The Shelter says it put some families in motels and pulled out blankets to try and keep everyone warm.
Mel Eby, the Shelter Director said, "Three people died in the fourth quarter of '08 and not in January so far, so we're hoping that continues because three people died outside--three men."
The Shelter has seen an increase in guests over the past few days. And overall this year--the Shelter says the demand for homeless services has gone up 18 %.
