At the main Leon County Library downtown--educators took advantage of a pre-retirement seminar. Many of them say they showed up to better understand their benefits, incentives, and investments. And despite the economy taking a spill, some teachers at the seminar are staying positive about their retirement.
Leslie Pla-Perotte, a teacher at Fairview Middle School said, "I have a lot of friends who have retired and they have shared information, so its good to hear it from the horses mouth. Social security, retirement and what you can do with full retirement. So it was very informative because knowledge is power."
Many in attendance Monday night said that these meetings are more important now more than ever because of the tough economic times.
