Tuesday night at the Wakulla County Commission--Senator Al Lawson, and Representatives Leonard Bembry and Marty Coley heard several issues from residents ranging from the environment to improving services in the county. One citizen asked for assistance from the leaders in the case of Sheriff Harvey's hit and run accident last Friday--saying there is a conflict of interest in the State Attorney's investigation of the incident because of close ties between the Sheriff and State Attorney Willie Meggs.
Wakulla resident, Dana Peck said, "What lessons are we going to show if the man really did do this--if the sheriff really did do this, then what message would our children have if they hear that he gets away with it."
Senator Lawson says he will pass along residents' concerns to State Attorney Willie Meggs. The State Attorney's Office says it is still investigating the incident involving Sheriff Harvey and the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office says it will not comment on camera until the investigation is over.
