Sheriff Harvey Discussed at Wakulla County Meeting

Tuesday night at the Wakulla County Commission--Senator Al Lawson, and Representatives Leonard Bembry and Marty Coley heard several issues from residents ranging from the environment to improving services in the county. One citizen asked for assistance from the leaders in the case of Sheriff Harvey's hit and run accident last Friday--saying there is a conflict of interest in the State Attorney's investigation of the incident because of close ties between the Sheriff and State Attorney Willie Meggs.

Wakulla resident, Dana Peck said, "What lessons are we going to show if the man really did do this--if the sheriff really did do this, then what message would our children have if they hear that he gets away with it."

Senator Lawson says he will pass along residents' concerns to State Attorney Willie Meggs. The State Attorney's Office says it is still investigating the incident involving Sheriff Harvey and the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office says it will not comment on camera until the investigation is over.

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water folks ... a persistent mantra seems to be "if he were a regular citizen he would be in jail" or something to that extent. We'll guess what ... he's not. He is a 30 year decorated veteran of law enforcement. Big fish, WOW! Now that we got 'em lets string him up! How about give the guy the consideration he deserves of being a 30 year veteran. The majority of what is being reported is rumor and innuendo. He has kept Wakulla safe for many many years. He makes a bad judgement call and people want to hang him in public! Wouldn't that be great? Imagine if he went down in flames due to this incident — now how would that make you feel? You need to ask yourself why you feel that way ... jealously, possibly revenge? We tend to assassinate our good and faithful leaders and glorify the stupid and fake ones in this country who in truth couldn't care less about us - I really don't understand it.

There are MORE important issues than an accident. Things like the economy, stimulus package and unemployment. Pray for our country

Dana, why did't you jump our legislators about the state budget which is far more important than a car accident. You are so small minded. I should not expect more from someone who smuggled contraband into the Leon County Jail. I also heard you peaked thru the windows of the Sopchoppy precinct to spy on the voters. I think both of these things are illegal.Think more important issues. You might actually contribute something positive!!!!! Pass this on to Howard Kessler. I am not sure either of you understand the concept

i got one for you. my sister hit someones car at walmart last year and she didnt cause any damage so she left but the person who owned the car noticed a scratch and walmart pulled their cameras and got my sis plate and arrested her for a hit in run in wakulla county last year. she lost her license for 1 year and fines. how is she different than harvey. a badge!!! and she has a perfect driving record and never been in trouble either. what is the difference. oh and she did call the cops on her phone too. and they said dont worry about it since she didnt see any damages.

AGAIN, the general public becomes fully aware of the ineffective nature of law enforcement when tasked with investigating and policing themselves. However, this case will highlight and underscore an outright WHITEWASH played out right in front of everone's faces.
