'We are Marshall' was the phrase in Tallahassee Wednesday night as former Coach Red Dawson and current members of the Thundering Herd paid a visit. Dawson was in town to be honored in Tallahassee, where he played football for then FSU Assistant Coach Bobby Bowden in the early 60's.

Dawson returned to Marshall the year after a plane crash that killed almost the entire team and coaching staff in 1970. Wednesday night was a true blend of FSU and Marshall--even Dawson's old coach stopped by the Silver Slipper. For Dawson, it was a return to his roots and a chance to keep an eye on his favorite school, FSU.

"It's my alma mater, it means everything. I pull for them everyday and I take it personally we loose a football game especially." said Dawson.

Dawson is originally from Valdosta and said as a kid, his dream was to run out of the tunnel wearing the Valdosta Wildcat uniform.

Red never worked in football after 1971 season. What did he do instead?
