Despite recent advances in racial equality, the number of hate groups in the U.S. is up 54% since the year 2000. The Southern Poverty Law Center released the 'Intelligence Report' identifying 926 hate groups in 2008--some right in our local area.

In Georgia, the report named the 'Georgia Knight Riders Knights of the Ku Klux Klan' in Bainbridge and a racist music label in Valdosta called 'Free Your Mind Productions.'

In Florida, the report named the 'League of the South' as a Neo-Confederate Group in Leon County. The report says there are a total of 40 groups in Georgia and 56 in Florida.
