Thursday afternoon, a home was engulfed by fire on Ruthenia Road off of Capital Circle Road. The home owner, Les Young, says he was outside raking leaves just after 4:30 p.m. when he saw his back porch on fire. Young says he called 911 and began fighting the blaze from inside his house with a garden hose.

Joyce Revels, a neighbor, watched as Young tried to put the fire out. "I was going to my mailbox and I seen all this smoke coming out the front door and Mr. Young was trying to put it out with the water hose and the back end of the house was really on fire." said Revels.

The Tallahassee Fire Department says firefighters arrived at 4:50 p.m. and put the fire out in about five minutes. Firefighters say the home is most likely a total loss and is still under investigation. There were no injuries reported and the fire department says Young has a another place to stay for the time being.
