The U.S. Postal Service has provided Congress with a list of 677 post offices that could possibly close or consolidate as it tries to save money..and a Tallahassee Post office is on the list.
A spokesman for the Postal service says the industry is losing 20 million dollars a day and the Government Accountability Office is calling on the agency to create a restructuring plan.
The Westside Station Post office on West Pensacola Street is included in a list of 677 post offices that could be closed or consolidated.
A USPS spokesman says each post office will be studied at a case-by-case basis to see if closing or consolidating with another nearby office would still serve the needs of the community.
Kyle Lyster, a post officer customer says, "I'd have to drive a little, maybe a couple of extra miles, waste gas."
Post office customer Kawana Rollins says, "I think it'll be an inconvenience to the area, because you have the people over here and then you have the campus. A lot of people use this post office so I feel like it'll be an inconvenience."
The Postmaster General asked Congress for permission to reduce mail deliveries from six days-a-week to five.
Local Post office officials declined to comment.
