Preparing for a hurricane is a stressful task for just about anyone, but much tougher for those who can't care for themselves.
Ability First is asking for volunteers to assist people with disabilities prepare for storms.
Some of the tasks include putting together supply kits, delivering them and making sure the individuals have transportation to special needs shelters.
"If people haven't taken the necessary steps by the time we start losing communication, finding our own roads blocked from transportation, people are gonna be left alone in their homes or apartments for a number of hours or days, and if they haven't' set aside resources, their illnesses or disabilities could be made worse," said Executive Director Judith Barrett.
