The Florida Department of Health is posting new swimming advisories in our area because of high bacteria levels this time for Mashes Sands and Shell Point in Wakulla County.
An advisory was also issued Thursday for St. George Island at 11th Street East, though two other sampling spots on the island were ok for swimming. Health officials say the bacteria is an indicator of human waste, but specific sources of waste have not been identified.
In Taylor County, Dekle Beach, Keaton Beach, Cedar Beach and Hagens Cove remain under advisories that were issued last week.
