Fireworks for Sale in Tallahassee

By: Blaine Tolison Email

This year people can light off fireworks that do not explode or take off from the ground. The Tallahassee Fire Department recommends seeing a display, but for those who can't resist, here are some safety tips.

- Find an open space.
- Wet the area where you light the fireworks.
- Have water or an extinguisher handy.
- Kids should have an adult around.
- Pay particular attention to duds.

We talked to some local residents and not everyone is thrilled about public firework use.

One local resident said, "When I was brought up as a child, we had sparklers and they're all wonderful things, but they get very, very hot and even with the little bit of rain we've had in the last few days, the ground is still very dry in some areas."

In two-thousand five, over 10,000 people in the country were treated for fireworks injuries during the fourth.
