The summer camp, sponsored by FSU, FAMU, TCC, and others, is having a celebration today. Today's festival is just one of many ways the kids at St. Jacob's Ladder have been staying busy.
Each week they read, do math, and learn how to have winning attitudes.
Rev. Jermaine Simmons said, "What we wanted to do for this community is provide a quality experience. They've go foreign language, they're learning computers, they're learning karate, they're singing, they're dancing, and they get education. The first part of the morning they're doing education, reading and writing."
The camp ends August 11th and the children start school a week later, so the kids are warmed up and prepared to do well once class starts.
