News Release: Tri-Eagle Sales
Tallahassee - Celebrating the seventeenth year of successful holiday drunk driving prevention programs Tri-Eagle Sales, Budweiser and Yellow Cab are joining together to keep potential drunk drivers off the roadways again this holiday season. The program runs from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day.
The Budweiser/Yellow Cab “Safe Ride” program is available at Leon County bars and restaurants. If a patron does not have a designated driver and is in need of one, the manager or owner of participating on-premise licensed establishments in Leon County can call upon Yellow Cab for a safe ride from 8:00 p.m.– 3:00 a.m. Rides are available only to a home residence in Tallahassee/Leon County.
Tri-Eagle Sales and Yellow Cab share the costs of the cab fares. Since the program began, the companies have provided over 12,000 safe rides in Leon County.
“We believe that being a designated driver for your friends and family is the best gift you can give during the holiday season,” says Kristen Black, director of community affairs at Tri-Eagle Sales. “Help us keep our roads safe during the holidays by using a designated driver or volunteering to be one.”
Black adds that the main purpose of the program is to bring increased awareness to planning ahead for your designated driver. "We have always encouraged people to drink in moderation and choose or be a designated driver, but if you make a poor choice and drink too much, the benefit of the program is that you can get home safely, no questions asked".
Thanks in part to programs like the Safe Ride program, along with strong law enforcement and community-based alcohol education programs, drunken driving fatalities have declined 53 percent since 1982, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“We are proud to partner on a program that ensures a safe option for our community…both those who may be in need of a safe ride and those out driving the roadways this holiday season,” said Lori Lyons, Marketing Representative for Yellow Cab.
