Southwestern State Hospital hosted its first annual "Night At Southwestern" fundraiser (10/14).
Guests enjoyed dinner, a ballet performance, and the hospital's silent auction, as well as some informative exhibits demonstrating how patients' mental conditions are improved during their respective stays at the hospital.
Items in the exhibits included behavioral learning tools such as locks and eating utensils.
Guests could also put on a set of headphones and experience what it is like to hear voices as a schizophrenic would.
All proceeds go directly to a Patient Benefit Fund, which helps discharged patients pay for rehabilitative items, such as magazine subscriptions and reading glasses.
