Billions of Dollars in Returned Gifts Expected

When you get a gift, it's the thought that counts. But sometimes the thought doesn't always fit.

That's just one of the reasons the National Retail Federation predicts that $62 billion dollars worth of merchandise will come back in the days after Christmas. But it seems it's not just about bringing gifts back anymore.

"Well the day after Christmas has really transformed from a return day to customers coming in and looking for after Christmas bargains," said Ray Gray, store leader for JC Penney in Tallahassee.

Gray has been doing retail for 30 years and says he's seen the shift. Stores like JC Penney put on post-Christmas sales in hopes that folks won't just return an item, but buy new ones as well.
