Fanconi anemia is a rare and deadly disease that affects the bone marrow. The Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, Inc. says about 30 babies every year are born with FA in the U.S.
That includes head FSU football coach Jimbo Fisher's six-year old son, Ethan. His wife, Candi, was at a drive in Tallahassee on Monday with Ethan.
"He hasn't gone into further decline yet and that's what we were hoping from the beginning so that we could do what we can, we've got time to raise as much money as we can so we can further the research," said Candi Fisher.
The Fishers run an organization called Kidz1stFund to try to find a cure or ways to treat the disease.
On Monday 17-year old Shane McCreless hosted a drive to get people signed up to the bone marrow registry. McCreless says he's a huge fan of Jimbo Fisher and just wanted to do something to help.
