Tallahassee, FL - We heard it through the grapevine...That Boys Town North Florida celebrated their 30th anniversary tonight, with a little help from Motown.
The 30-year anniversary and awards banquet theme was "Motown at Boys Town", and every child was recognized. The children walked down the red carpet, became Boys Town citizens and received specialized awards. Former FSU football player and Rhodes Scholar Myron Rolle was there as a guest speaker, and the evening ended with a grand finale put on by the Boys Town children.
Ken Bender, Boys Town Executive Director: "Our kids have come to us with abuse, abandonment, and neglect, they don't have a lot of successes when they come to us, and we come tonight to celebrate a lot of the successes they have. Every kid gets an award tonight and gets to feel on top of the world that they've accomplished something."
Boys Town North Florida has helped to serve more than seven-thousand children and families in their 30 years.
