According the American Cancer Society 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
Monday the American Cancer Society of Tallahassee brought together survivors for an afternoon lunch
Survivors were given a chance to meet others who have gone through or are going through treatment now.
60 survivors signed up to attends Monday’s lunch
Alicia Holmes is the survivor chairperson and she says it’s a way for them to feel like regular people.
"We're just bringing them all together giving them a chance to meet each other to communicate, and to kind of talk about their different things that they've gone through or just to give them a chance to step back and relax,” Holmes said.
The luncheon was catered by Texas Roadhouse and was free for the breast cancer patients and survivors.
