Brogan Museum Says "Goodbye" for Good on September 1st

Updated: Mon 1:34 PM, Mar 25, 2013

10 year old Julia Hernandez has been coming to the Mary Brogan Museum's camp programs for nearly five years. She says she always looked forward to learning and making new friends, but this will be the last spring learning camp the museum holds after a vote was held at the museum's board meeting Tuesday night.

"I've always been wondering what's going to happen to this place because, you know, I know it's not open, but the sign back home says there's going to be Spring Camp while they're re-inventing it," said Hernandez.

Board Chairwoman Felicia Nowels says the board voted 9 to 2 to continue their children's camp programs through the summer. They hope the camp and an art sale pays off the remaining debt the Museum owes.

"The vote was to push through disollution with September 1st being the close date," said Nowels.

The Brogan is about $107,000 in debt, but the board says they have $60,000 in the bank and they're hoping the camp can cover the rest.

The Summer Camp program runs from June 3rd through August 16th. "Camp All That" has different age groups and themes, and the standard cost per camper is about $170 per week.
