News Release: Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce
Tallahassee, Fla. – Leadership Tallahassee, the region’s premier leadership development organization, is hosting its popular annual event Building Better Boards on Tuesday, May 13 from 4:30pm – 8:30pm at Tallahassee Community College’s Center for Workforce Development. This event is a calendar highlight for employees of non-profits as well as local business professionals interested in volunteering their time to serve on a board. The event features 12 different workshops for attendees on topics from engaging volunteers and legal issues to governance and guidance for new board members. The keynote speaker is Tony Carvajal of the Florida Chamber Foundation.
“Building Better Boards is really the spotlight event for non-profit board guidance each year, and we feel our lineup of guest speakers and topics will ensure those interested will be better prepared for board service, and the non-profits will have a more qualified pool of candidates to choose from,” said Leadership Tallahassee Executive Director Barbara Boone. “This event keeps growing each year which shows the importance that non-profits play as an economic driver in our community as well as the interest among the business community to give back to organizations that are important to them.”
The Building Better Boards workshops are led by some of the community’s most prominent leaders from the non-profit world, as well as experts from Florida State University, Tallahassee Community College, the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and the region’s workforce agency CareerSource Capital Region.
