City of Tallahassee Service Changes for Holiday

City of Tallahassee Release: City Service Changes for Christmas Holiday (Solid Waste/StarMetro/Animal Service Center)

The City of Tallahassee’s administrative offices will be closed in observance of the Christmas holiday on Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25. Following are schedule changes for the week of Dec. 23-29 for solid waste customers living inside the Tallahassee city limits, StarMetro and the Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center.

Solid Waste Schedule Changes

GARBAGE / RECYCLING / YARD WASTE (red week) / BULKY ITEMS (red week) – During the holiday week, customers will receive service as follows:

· Monday, Dec. 24 – Normal schedule

· Tuesday, Dec. 25 – No pickup

· Wednesday, Dec. 26 – Tuesday customers will be picked up on Wednesday.

· Thursday, Dec. 27 – Wednesday customers will be picked up on Thursday.

· Friday, Dec. 28 – Thursday customers will be picked up on Friday.

· Saturday, Dec. 29 – Friday customers will be picked up on Saturday.

Garbage and recycling containers should both be rolled to the curb for pickup by 6:30 a.m., with both containers returned to the home no later than the day after the collection day. Customers are reminded to separate yard waste piles from any bulky items set out for pickup. Customers needing more information may view solid waste schedules at Talgov.com/YOU or contact City of Tallahassee Utilities at 891-4YOU (4968).

StarMetro Schedule Changes

StarMetro, the City's mass transit system, will change its operations for the Christmas holiday, as follows:

Tuesday, Dec. 25:

FIXED ROUTE SERVICES – no StarMetro service.
DIAL-A-RIDE SERVICES – no Dial-A-Ride service.

There will be no night service on Monday, December 24.

Dial-A-Ride customers for Dec. 26 must confirm rides by 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24. For more information, visit Talgov.com/StarMetro or call StarMetro at 891-5200.

Animal Service Center Closed Monday and Tuesday

The Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center is normally closed to the public on Mondays and will also be closed on Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 25. Normal hours resume on Wednesday, Dec. 26, with the center opening at 10:30 a.m. Customers needing more information, including photos of animals available for adoption, may visit Talgov.com/animals or call the Animal Service Center at 891-2950.
