Tallahassee, FL -- StarMetro took suggestions from the public and businesses at the second public meeting for a proposed trolley route in Tallahassee.

The route would go around midtown, downtown, and Gaines street.
It would be free for riders, but would cost the city $120,000 dollars a year. That's a price tag not everyone thinks taxpayers should pay, because the route is only servicing a small section of the city.

"Why dump that on us taxpayers who are having trouble getting money for sidewalks in our neighborhoods to keep young mothers, children, and people walking their dogs off the roads," said meeting goer Ben Girtman.

All of the feedback will be brought to the Tallahassee city commission meeting on July 10th when StarMetro presents the idea.

Tallahassee, FL - There are more people clanging for a trolley in Tallahassee tonight. The city is hosting its second public meeting on the prospect right now.

City officials have a vision of an old time trolley dropping people off at city hotspots for a night on the town every weekend. Whether that vision becomes a reality remains to be seen.

The proposed service would be operated by Star Metro and would be free. The route would take folks between Midtown, Downtown and Gaines street. Commissioners think the free service would allow people to leave their cars and experience some night life and, hopefully, spend some money on the local businesses in and around each stop. Right now they're hoping for a Friday and Saturday night schedule running every 20 minutes from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. The route would cost 120 thousand dollars a year, and has been accounted for in the most recent projected city budget.

This is the second meeting the city is having about the trolley. They're hoping for positive feedback and suggestions from potential riders and businesses that could be affected by the "old school" way of getting around.
