St. Marks NWR Saltwater Boat Ramp will Close for Repairs

Anglers who use the refuge saltwater boat ramp by the lighthouse – take note!

The ramp will be closed from Monday, December 20, 2010 until the middle of February, 2011 to complete its renovation.

Stimulus funds have been appropriated to remove the existing ramp and replace it with a slightly wider, much longer ramp with a median to allow two vehicles with trailers to offload and load boats at the same time.

The Refuge Staff appreciate everyone’s patience and we all look forward to an improved facility by early spring!

That's good news. I hope the funding includes money to dredge the basis and canal so that it will not be a high tide only ramp(s).
