Representatives from Moultrie Technical College, the Governor's Office of Workforce Development, and Colquitt County were on hand at the courthouse as the county received its "Work Ready" designation from the Governor's Office.

Colquitt County joins over 70 Georgia counties that already have the certification. Residents and local businesses worked together to create a skilled workforce and over 900 individuals completed Work Ready exams.

Officials say the endeavor is on-going and a certain number of Work Ready exams must still be completed each year in order for the county to maintain its status.

The Georgia Work Ready Initiative allows counties to build their workforce, and gives local businesses the resources to hire suitable employees. Based on program tests and profiles, candidates' skills are identified and used to find them a good career choice with a local company.
