Miami, FL - High school students interested in earning college scholarships need to act now to be part of the Holland & Knight Charitable Foundation’s 17th annual Holocaust Remembrance Project Essay Contest. The goal of the contest is to educate high school students about the Holocaust.

Since the project started in 1995, students have received more than $1 million in scholarships and prizes through the Holland & Knight Charitable Foundation.

Students who are interested in entering should study the Holocaust and then submit an essay of no more than 1,200 words. The essay should answer two main questions:

1) Why is it important for a new generation to remember and learn about the Holocaust?

2) What should young people do today to fight prejudice, discrimination and violence?

Winning students will receive college scholarships up to $10,000. They will also receive an all expense paid trip to South Florida this June, where they will meet Holocaust survivors and attend an Awards Banquet in their honor.

All essays must be uploaded and submitted to the contest website by 6:00 p.m. (EDT) April 15, 2011 in order to be considered. For full contest rules and complete details on all the scholarships available, go to
