This Saturday, December 11 from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. Leon County will give a holiday gift to the community – in the form of a newly expanded library branch for residents.

There will be a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony & Community Holiday Celebration, complete with educational gifts, children’s activities, storytime and refreshments, this Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library System’s Dr. B. L. Perry, Jr. branch library, located at 2817 South Adams St. A news conference will be held at 11 a.m., followed immediately by the ribbon-cutting celebration, featuring special guests.

The B.L. Perry branch, which receives more than 70 visitors per hour, was expanded 3,000 sq ft this year, increasing the reading room, youth areas and computer room. The library has the highest computer-use numbers than any other branch location in the County, and in the past, waiting times for the computers could range from 45 minutes to 2 hours. Patrons often waited for hours to use a computer for research or to search and apply for jobs.
