What: Emergency disaster response exercise at the Tallahassee Regional Airport
When: Thursday, Feb. 20, 8:45 a.m. (exercise starting window is between 9 - 10 a.m.)
Who: Response teams from the Tallahassee Regional Airport, Tallahassee Fire Department, Tallahassee Police Department, City of Tallahassee Emergency Management, Leon County Emergency Medical Services, Leon County Sheriff's Office, Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration, local hospitals, Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, and various other response/aviation agencies and organizations
Where: Tallahassee Regional Airport - exercise takes place near Compass Pointe (the old terminal facility) on northwest side of Airport. Media instructions are included below.
Details: Tallahassee Regional Airport Conducts a large-scale emergency disaster exercise every three years and tabletop exercises every year. The large-scale exercise tests the airport's readiness to respond in the event of a disaster, such as an airline crash. It also tests the overall response and coordination of participating agencies. Additionally, the airport conducts an exercise of this magnitude every three years to remain in compliance with mandates from the Federal Aviation Administration.
