Tallahassee, FL - Here’s a reminder of two holiday-themed events sponsored by the City of Tallahassee. The highly popular Elf Night celebration takes place, Dec. 16, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Dorothy B. Oven Park, 3205 Thomasville Road. Meanwhile, Tallahassee on Ice continues at Kleman Plaza, with family ice skating sessions offered daily through Jan. 3.
Elf Night features the efforts of crews from the City’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs (PRNA) Department, who annually transform the park grounds, gardens and buildings into a mesmerizing holiday display of more than 250,000 lights and decorations. The event is open to the public and is free of charge, though donations will be accepted for the Tallahassee Friends of Our Parks Foundation Inc.
Parking for the event will be available next to the park at the Thomasville Road Baptist Church, with additional parking across the street at the Piedmont Park Alliance Church. Tallahassee Police officers will be on scene to direct traffic and help visitors safely enter and exit the park, but motorists are advised to expect delays on Thomasville Road during the event, particularly northbound between Betton Road and the park itself.
Ice Skating on Kleman Plaza!
Meanwhile, PRNA is also offering outdoor ice skating sessions at downtown’s Kleman Plaza. An hour of ice skating, including skate rental, is only $6. The rink’s standard schedule, weather permitting, operates as follows:
Weekdays: 3:30-8:30 p.m. (11 a.m.-8:30 p.m. effective Monday, Dec. 20)
Saturday: 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
Sunday: 2-8:30 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 24: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

New Year's Eve will also be special in Kleman Plaza, as the rink will open at 11 a.m. on Dec. 31, with ice skating to continue until just past the new year’s introduction at midnight. The rink is also available for private parties, from 8:30-11:30 p.m. at $400 for two hours or $500 for three hours. School groups and other group reservations are available prior to 11 a.m. each day. The outdoor ice skating sessions will continue through Jan. 3. Plenty of parking is available underneath at the Kleman Plaza parking garage (fee charged).
