The Vereen Gallery inside the Colquitt County Arts Center will open tomorrow evening with "The Life of a Photographer", a collection by photography veteran John Mercer.
Mercer says he never considered his photographs to be noteworthy -- he says his only goal in taking a picture is to capture a little piece of everyday life that others can relate to.
Mercer says he went to school for computers, but a job in the Navy put him on the path to becoming a photographer more than 30 years ago. He spent a majority of his career after the Navy working as a photojournalist for the 'Moultrie Observer'.
Mercer says he hopes visitors will enjoy his pictures, which were all taken in Colquitt County, and be able to see a little bit of themselves in some of them.
The exhibit will run from November 18th until February 12th and is free to the public. A celebratory event will mark the opening of the exhibit tomorrow evening at 7 PM.
