Volunteer group the 'Fallen Heroes Project' presented the Gay family from Valdosta, Georgia with a custom portrait of their son, Corporal Pruitt Rainey, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2008.

Family members say while the portait unveiling brought back painful memories, it also gave them a sense of peace.

Says Rainey's father, Frankie Gay, "It's very comforting. We have this house called 'Pruitt's Pond House' and, so, we couldn't pick any better place. My whole family's here: my other children, and mom and dad, and sister and brother, and loved ones."

The 'Fallen Heroes Project' was created by Washington state-based painter Michael Reagan, who paints free portraits for family members of those who are killed in combat in Afghanistan and Iraq.
