Farm Share Provides Food for Big Bend Hungry

Gadsden County, FL - Wednesday, by noon, more than 400 people received free food, water and medical advice thanks to Farm Share and community groups in Gadsden County.

The line of cars extended onto Highway 90 as they snaked through the property, one by one.

Dozens of volunteers were on hand to help Dave Reynolds, the Farm Share Facility manager.

"It puts a big smile on my face," said Reynolds. "Makes it worth coming to work everyday. It's one of the best jobs you could ever have."

The Department of Children and Families and the Gadsden County Health Department also teamed up for the event.

Pumpkins, green beans, canned good and even exercise bands were even handed out to the hundreds who filed by the volunteers loading goods into trunks and backseats.

The five hour event had a steady crowd throughout the time.

The Gadsden County Health Department was also trying to educate people about diabetes while they received their carloads of goods.
