TALLAHASSEE, Fla., June 18, 2012, 5:46 p.m.
Firefighters are true American heroes. Besides the 57 years of support that they have given to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Firefighters put their lives on the line everyday to help those of others. All of the good deeds they do for this organization and the
Tallahassee community should not go unnoticed.
Members of the Tallahassee Professional Fire Fighters #2339 and Tallahassee Fire Department hit the streets from May 30 through June 1 to fill their fire boots with donations to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Firefighters collected donations from passersby at various intersections raising $21,842 for this year!
A special thank you to our sponsors this year: Lowe’s, Harveys Supermarkets, Bagel Bagel, Krispy Kreme, Momo’s Pizza, Firehouse Subs, Subway, Bank of America, Chik-Fil-A, and Hungry Howies!
The International Association of Firefighters is a National Sponsor of MDA, and thousands of firefighters nationwide have been contributing to MDA in various capacities since 1954.
Funds raised by the firefighters give MDA, a voluntary health agency, the means to continue providing direct services, research and professional and public health education to children and adults with neuromuscular diseases in Northwest Florida. MDA also provides fun-filled summer camps throughout the region for individuals, ages 6 to 17, with muscular dystrophy.
