TALLAHASSEE – Access Tallahassee, the regions’ premier young professionals program, is hosting Downtown Dash: A Run Through the City That Runs the Sunshine State, on Saturday, May 10 at 8:30 a.m. Starting in beautiful downtown Tallahassee, this 5K race will be U.S. Track and Field-certified and will be the first official race to incorporate the new Cascades Park into its course layout. Access Tallahassee is an affiliate program of The Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce.
“We are extremely excited to offer a great opportunity like this for competitive runners and families alike to be the first to utilize the amenities of Cascades Park,” said Christian Nilon, Manager of Events for the Chamber. “The Downtown Dash will showcase what makes downtown Tallahassee so great, while also promoting the importance of young professionals in the community.”
Community members of all ages and all skill sets will begin the race downtown in the Chain of Parks, then head towards Franklin Blvd. and through Cascades Park before winding back to finish in the Downtown Marketplace. The race will utilize Gulf Winds Track Club timing chips and awards are given out after the race is completed. Cost of registration before Thursday, May 8 is $15 and race-day registration is $20. Registration includes participation in the Downtown Dash, an event t-shirt and a timing chip.

Participants are encouraged to enjoy the Downtown Marketplace after the event. The presenting sponsor is Proctor Subaru and the run sponsor is Florida Blue. Community partners include Capital Health Plan, Downtown Tallahassee and BodyTrac Health & Fitness.
