Franklin County, FL - An off-duty Franklin County deputy saves two young local brothers. Deputy Lawrence Brannan was at Saint George Island with his family and noticed a boy drowning and another boy trying to save him.

The Woodville brothers were almost 300 yards from the shoreline and in trouble. The deputy sprung into action, and with the help of a good samaritan with a kayak, he paddled them to safety.

Deputy Lawrence Brannan: "The real hero is one of the brothers... He couldn't swim enough to help his brother (that was one of them that we assisted getting in) but he stayed with his brother the whole time."

Both brothers are doing well. Officer Brannan says the entire family was gracious for his quick and heroic thinking.
