Press Release: Leon County Humane Society

August 14, 2013 – TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Leon County Humane Society has announced today an opportunity to help animals and look good doing it – all you need to do is get a haircut. The LCHS is once again the beneficiary for the 3rd Annual BarkAID tour stop at Synergy Salon (1000 Thomasville Road). The event will be held Friday, August 16, 7am to 7pm.

You can pre-book an appointment at Synergy by calling (850) 222-0390 or come to the salon on Friday to schedule an appointment. There is a suggested minimum donation of $20, cash or check made out to LCHS who will be on-site with an info table at the salon and a few adoptable dogs.

BarkAID was created in 2010 by master hairstylist and animal lover, Patrick Lomantini, owner of Lomantini the Salon. Lomantini searched for and found a way to marry his passion for hair, fashion and saving homeless animals. Its mission is to raise funds and awareness for homeless animals, as well as educate people about what is happening with animals in their communities. Patrick and his team will zigzag across the United States, traveling to all 50 states in 50 days. At each stop he’ll do 50 haircuts (or more), all to help rescue shelter animals. 100% of all money collected at each site goes directly to designated organizations.

“We feel very fortunate to be selected for this amazing initiative once again,” said Abby Ouimet, LCHS executive director. “There are so many ways to help animals in need and we are grateful that people use their talent and creativity to assist the animals in our program.”

To schedule an appointment, call Synergy Salon at (850) 222-0390. For more information, visit www.barkaid.org.
