Tallahassee, FL - Goodwill Industries is getting a big boost to help community members learn financial skills and increase financial stability.
Representatives from SunTrust Bank presented Goodwill with a $10,000 donation Thursday afternoon.
The money will help with the opening of Goodwill's Prosperity Center in Tallahassee. Administrators say the center will help low-income adults increase their income through methods such as: helping to get rid of debt, budgeting, career advancement, and monitoring and reaching income goals.
The center will also have a fitness center inside. "It's for citizens in Leon County as well as our own employees. Fitness is a part of being healthy and being healthy is essential to holding down jobs, which is what this is all about." Says, Fred Shelfer, the C.E.O. and President of Goodwill Industries of the Big Bend.
The Prosperity Center is the renovation of the old Goodwill Store at 300 Mabry Street in Tallahassee. It's scheduled to open in Winter 2014.
