It wasn't your typical student move out at The Landing Apartments in Tallahassee.
"Goodwill came to us a couple of years back with an idea for a partnership to move out our residents," said Jason Hohensee who works for 'Apts in Tally,' the company that leases The Landing.
It's not just residents donating. Apts in Tally recently purchased new furniture for their apartments, and instead of tossing the old stuff, they gave it to Goodwill. Folks from the donation center then come to pick up the items and haul them away.
"Instead of having to lug that couch down three flights of stairs, they can call us and we'll call Goodwill and it goes to a good cause," said Hohensee.
The donations have been a great help to Tallahassee's Goodwill centers.
"The furniture donation from Apts in Tally is huge. It means jobs, it means that we can fund our mission which is career training services, job placement, funding the Dick Howser center, it's huge for us," Goodwill Industries' Amanda Doumanian.
The program has been so successful, that Goodwill receiving centers are almost full. But they'll never turn away a good donation.
"We can always use more. We need donations to fund our stores which helps our mission, so bring on the donations! We can handle it and that just helps people in our community keep working," Doumanian said.
Apts in Tally has also set up bins at their properties where residents can donate clothes and other materials to Goodwill.
