At a recent School Board meeting, Superintendent Tommy Pharis outlined his priorities for the upcoming school year.
Among the changes are new teaching positions, the addition of 'badly-needed' technology, and optional courses instructors can take to earn extra cash.
Says Pharis, "Basically, we're building a school system that's the very best for every individual child that we have, and we have to do that by continuing to do more."
Pharis says budget cuts are the 'new norm', and creativity is the key to working out solutions despite tight funding.
He says the School Board will meet to finalize a more concrete plan this coming September 2011, once the county's millage rate has been set.
