Perhaps you've heard through the grape vine hunger is an issue in the Big Bend region. Local community members headed to the real grape vines this Saturday morning to pick grapes for the hungry. America's Second Harvest organized this event because of the recent increase in demand for food donations.
FAMU's Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority members were out in the hot sun helping the cause. Sororoty member Paris Proctor said, "We sweat a lot cause we work hard! It's part of our responsibility as members to reach out to the community if its through different outreaches such as this.
Event organizers say 1,986 pounds of grapes were gathered today! It will be distributed to Big Bend food pantries, and soup kitches this Monday 9/12.
