Groundbreaking at Tennessee and Monroe

Tallahassee, FL - There was a groundbreaking today for the new Gateway Project in Tallahassee.

The land at the corner of Monroe and Tennessee Streets will house a four-story building with office space and a Walgreens. Developer Hunter and Harp Holdings as well as Mad Dog construction say the project will fill a retail need for people who work in the city.

Officials believe that intersection also makes it ideal for visitors staying in hotels downtown.

"We know that this will be one of those projects that will help those hotels and help the people that are visiting those hotels here in the city of Tallahassee," said mayor John Marks.

"This urban amenity has three qualities that everyone wants and that is location, location, location," said Conn and Associates Inc. Architects president Michael Conn.

The project is expected to be complete by the spring of 2014.

Who & What:
Local real estate development, investment and management group, Hunter & Harp Holdings is breaking ground for the new Gateway project at the property site on the corner of Monroe Street and Tennessee Street. The building is set to open spring 2014 and will provide numerous job opportunities and significantly impact the economic growth of Tallahassee.
