Tallahassee, FL - The jersey of a former FAMU DRS football player killed was retired today. The number 28 jersey worn by Jonathan Ferrell will never be worn by anyone else again at the school
The Thursday football matchup for FAMU DRS against Port Saint Joe was more than just a game. It was a moment where people honored a fallen Rattler.
Ferrell had just moved to North Carolina when he was killed by the police officer. Authorities say Ferrell was unarmed and the shooting was unjustified leading to the arrest of the officer.
Ferrell started every year he played varsity football at FAMU DRS. He then went on to play at the University. His number 28 jersey will never be worn by any other baby Rattler.
