Tallahassee, FL - Some Tallahassee residents are paying more on their utility bills, by choice.
It's through a program called 'Change For Change'. All the money raised will go to help homeless kids in the area.
Pat Thomas was homeless as a child in Maryland. Her father came across tough times on his farm forcing the family into a farm shed.
After finding out about the program a couple years back, Thomas makes sure to donate every month.
"We've been doing it ever since," said Thomas. "We don't give a lot. We only give $5 a month but I feel like we're doing something towards the homeless situation."
The donations start at two dollars a month and show up on the back of your utility bill. All the money can be tax deductible because the money helps non profit organizations.
