Tallahassee - July 4, 2012 - 11:48pm

Along with July 4th celebrations, came eight new American citizens, at least in Tallahassee.

Earlier at Tom Brown Park, eight people took the oath and pledged their allegiance to the United States of America.

Something the judge presiding over the year's naturalization ceremony says is an honor no American should ever take lightly and an honor that centuries ago no one in this country had, until one July 4th.

The judge reminded everyone that on July 4, 1776, no one in this land was a United States citizen.

After the group in Tallahassee officially became citizens the crowd gave them a round of applause and recited with them the pledge of allegiance to the red, white and blue.
