News Release: Leon County Humane Society
TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Leon County Humane Society (LCHS) is gearing up for their Dog Wash season held each year on the second Saturday of the month from April through September. Each wash is held at the LCHS office (413 Timberlane Road) from 10am-2pm. This year there will be a new Wash in October. The cost is only $10 per service per dog, and season passes are available for $63.
In 2013, LCHS washed nearly 1,000 dogs and raised $10,000 from this long-time fundraising event. With Bank of America as the lead sponsor, LCHS anticipates washing more than 1,200 dogs and hopes to raise more money than last year.
“Dog Wash is such an integral part of our history and raises much needed funds for the animals in our adoption program,” said Abby Ouimet, executive director of the Leon County Humane Society. “The animals of LCHS need a range of medical care from basic to specialized and the money raised from Dog Wash helps to offset those costs.”
Each Dog Wash offers baths, flea dips, nail trims and FURmination. For more information on dates, volunteering or purchasing a season pass, visit www.lchs.info/dog_wash.
