One local man is trying to make sure wounded warriors aren't overlooked.
Joey Williams is setting up at grocery stores and other places in Valdosta and asking customers to sign a banner for the Wounded Warrior Project. He is also collecting donations for a local golf tournament which benefits wounded soldiers.
Williams says the banner will be shipped overseas to soldiers to let them know South Georgia cares about their service. He says he does this one week a year to help raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project.
"It's not just for the injured soldiers, there's mothers, fathers, husbands and wives out there that are having to take care of this injured soldier for the rest of their life and the wounded warrior program does that," said Williams.
Williams is trying to reach a goal of $2,000. In years past he says he has collected over $3,000 for the cause.
