You may have seen a little bit of a younger crowd at work today, and the same was true downtown.

The Department of Economic Opportunity hosted their annual "Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day" at the Capitol.

Employees in Tallahassee got to bring their sons and daughters to their jobs today to see just what their parents do when they leave in the morning.

Some parents wanted their kids to just enjoy the day; others wanted them to recognize something else.

"It's important for him to know not only what I do, but how I do it... and what families I affect and you know, just try to make a difference inside the state of Florida," said Major Whitlow, DEO employee.

There were various vendors at the event to give insight into the different career offerings. Some displays included Florida Prepaid, Office of Early Learning, Florida Department of Financial Services, and the FSU Career Center.

Local viewers sent in their pictures for "Take Your Son / Daughter To Work" Day.

Florida government employees are participating.

Any student 8-18 years old is invited along with parents, caregivers, or mentors to the State Capitol to learn more about education, business, and government agencies.
