A local insurance company donated thousands of dollars to two community organizations.
During a ceremony Wednesday morning, the FBMC Insurance Company honored the Refuge House and Elder Care Services giving them both $5,000 each.
FBMC was awarded $10,000 by the Trustmark Foundation for being the top insurance producer in the nation - and they donated it all to the local community.
President of Elder Care Services Jim Croteau says, We'll probably use part of the funds to support folks who are at risk of folks having their utilities cut off because they can't afford to pay their utilities bill."
Executive Director of the Refuge House Meg Baldwin says, "The funding will allow us to provide more direct assistance to the victims of domestic and sexual violence that we serve."
FBMC is headquartered in Tallahasee. It donates about 1% of it's profits to charitable and community organizations each year.
