Thomasville, Georgia - July 5, 2012
Homeowners in one local neighborhood are showing off their American pride by decorating their houses with hundreds of flags.
Neighbors in the Summer Glen community in Thomasville are coming together to show their patriotism this Fourth of July.
"Everybody was pretty excited," said Michael Mondoux, president of the Homeowners Association. "You'll see some really neat displays in the neighborhood."
The Homeowners Association of Summer Glen encouraged neighbors to pull out their red white and blue decorations to show their support, not only for the nation, but also for local military members and law enforcement officials who live in the community.
"We wanted to bring it to a smaller level and show great pride for the town we live in, as well as our neighborhood.," added Mondoux.
The team effort has also been a fun way to bring the neighbors together.
"It's great that the families get a chance to put the flags up together," said Tory Schofill, a resident of the neighborhood. "We did it with our neighbors the other night and it was a great way to just promote the community and promote friendship."
Neighbor Gerald Delaney served several years in the U.S. Army. He says there's no better time than now to stand united.
"With an election coming up and all that kinda stuff, it's good that the American people in neighborhoods like this one are sticking together," he said.
"It's a great reminder of all the things that we should be grateful for in the United States of America," added Schofill.
