One voice stands out among the rest for a chance to shine in the national spotlight.

Lindsey Benedict was selected out of 75 people for the all expense paid trip to an upcoming X-Factor audition in Dallas, Texas.

The music teacher owns Music Lessons Express on Apalachee Parkway in Tallahassee.

Benedict grew up singing and playing the piano but says she didn't grow into her solo voice until her mid 20's

Benedict says she scoured YouTube for the perfect audition song and during the auditions held at the Tallahassee Little Theatre, it paid off.

"I'm a big American Idol fan and X Factor fan and I thought now that there's no upper age limit, why not give it a try," said Benedict.

Now she moves on to the regional competition in the Lone Star State on May 26 for her chance at stardom.

We'll let you know how she does in Dallas.
