The annual Emancipation Celebration at Henry Hill Park in Tallahassee is underway.
Hundreds gather every year in honor of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. There is singing, dancing, poem recitals, free food and much more.
Tallahassee City Commissioner, Nancy Miller was among those in attendance. Other city, county, and community leaders and officials from Tallahassee and surrounding areas also will take part in the festivities.
The event is free and open to the public. The park is located on Centerville Road. The festivities will last until sundown.
